I stayed here in 1975 and 76 when I made my first trips into Arlington as a college student. My fiance was in the Navy but lived at Fort Meyer. It looked just like it does in these postcard pictures and eating in the on site restaurant was my first experience with grits. What a cool place then and later when I lived in the Washington & Lee apartments, I still enjoyed driving by the Arva.
ReplyDeleteIn 1964 and 1966, I visited Washington, D.C., as a child, and my parents and I stayed at the Arva Motor Hotel both times. These pictures brought back some memories. The hotel was right across the street from the entrance to Fort Myer.
