Colorado Springs, the famous resort city of the Rockies, is noted for its modern and comfortable hotels. This city, with a normal population of 30,000, has accommodations sufficient to entertain 250,000 visitors during the summer months. One of its leading hotels is the Alta Vista Hotel.
STATUS: The Alta Vista was originally built circa 1889, and then expanded repeatedly. It was demolished in 1963 except for a one-story remnant along Cascade Avenue which survived until circa 1970. Nikola Tesla lived here, in room 207, during his time in Colorado Springs from 1899-1900.
