It was built and operated by the Wulf family. The diving girl was part of the original sign and the motel had a great pool. On the same property was the family's original motel, the El Rancho, which was built probably in the 1930's. Both motels were still in operation in 1970 when I was back in Sacramento. Still owned and operated by the Wulf family. I even stayed when it was sold to Sheraton and became the Sheraton Beach. I remember being thee during the 1968 Republican convention. The Oklahoma and Nevada Delegations were housed there. I even remember then Governor Ronald Reagan was there to speak to the delegations housed there. My mother was ill at that time and had a severe ear ache. She just stayed at our room's outside looking at the bay. A man saw her. She looked as ill as she was. He asked what was wrong. The man had a southern / Midwestern drawl . She talked about her ear and aches and pains. The man left and got into a boat . Hours later while we were preparing to go to dinner, we had the TV on. It was the Republican convention.
